With a friendly visit, seniors enjoy a few hours of company each week, offering both the senior and volunteer an opportunity to learn from one another. Each visit is as unique as the two individuals involved.
Seniors and volunteers share memories and warm conversation; they may listen to music together, watch a favorite movie or enjoy a hobby or a game of cards. Volunteers benefit from learning about an older person's life experiences, and seniors enjoy an opportunity to share their views with younger generations and stay connected with the outside world.
Visiting Neighbors' Friendly Visitors also serve as a vital link with our clients. They periodically are asked to complete our simple casenote form and submit them to the office. If they notice a change in their senior's behavior, surroundings, or routine they can contact the office and discuss the issue(s) with VN's Health Advocate and any appropriate action(s) will be taken
Our programs and services are funded by a combination of individual donations, community and corporate support, grants form corporations and government funding.
This purposeful blend of support enables us to respond to needs of seniors with greater flexibility than those programs that rely on a single funder, but it also makes de the job of raising enough money to improve and expand our programs a greater challenge.
